PROSIEBENSAT.1 USES SYNAD-E FOR SURROUND SOUND (September 2005)

Germany's largest and most successful private Free-TV corporation, ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG, is the first customer to receive the innovative synchroniser SYNAD-E.

The purchase of this new Crystal Vision product will enable them to meet their commitment to transmit particular programs, for example, blockbuster movies and Champions League matches, in surround sound.

The ProSiebenSat.1 group has six TV stations, broadcasting programs on 11 channels in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the USA.

SYNAD-E was developed in response to this particular customer’s need for Dolby E and AES to share the same audio group, which was not previously possible before SYNAD-E. Synchronising the two types of audio when embedded in one group is difficult because Dolby E data is processed differently to standard audio. However, SYNAD-E solves this problem by separating the Dolby E and standard audio, synchronising both types appropriately and then recreating the audio with the delay matching the video.

Following extensive in-house testing, 12 SYNAD-Es were purchased through Crystal Vision’s German distributor SHM for location in the two main transmission areas of ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG.
