GMTV USES SAFIRE FOR TRAFFICLINK TRAVEL BULLETINS (March 2006)
Traffic bulletins on Europe’s biggest breakfast show have been transformed with the purchase of Crystal Vision’s Safire chroma keyer.
GMTV reaches approximately 10 million viewers per week, transmitting on terrestrial, satellite and cable channels daily from 06:00 to 09:25. Trafficlink, a company who provide real-time traffic and travel information to the UK radio and TV industry, are responsible for producing the three daily, live traffic bulletins broadcast by GMTV that focus on the London area within the boundary of the M25 and the main motorways.
Trafficlink’s order for Safire resulted from a need to upgrade the overall look and operation of their traffic bulletins, enabling them to chroma key the presenter over live traffic images taken from CCTV cameras located around the city and changing the signal path from the original analogue to SDI. Following a rapid installation over one weekend between live broadcasts, Safire controlled by Statesman software was operated for the first time on 4th February 2006.
Steve Perry, Senior Broadcast and IT Engineer at Trafficlink, who contacted Crystal Vision following a recommendation, was impressed with the response and service he received saying “Trafficlink are delighted with the results the Safire keyer system has given us and more importantly, so are our clients at GMTV.” |
