DISTRIBUTE ANY ANALOGUE SOURCE WITH CRYSTAL VISION'S FLEXIBLE NEW DAS (May 2009)

Crystal Vision has introduced three video distribution amplifiers ideal for any analogue source. The VDA110M HD, VDA110R HD and VDA210M HD have been designed for the distribution of SD Black & Burst or HD Tri-level syncs analogue reference, or for distributing SD or HD analogue video. Between them they offer the choice of varying numbers of inputs, outputs, loop-throughs and manual or remote control to suit any installation requirements.

The single channel VDA110M HD gives a maximum of eleven outputs or ten outputs with a loop-through and includes board edge adjustment of gain and equalisation. The VDA110R HD is another single channel board which gives a maximum of eleven outputs or ten outputs with a loop-through, but includes remote adjustment of gain, equalisation and clamp, as well as sophisticated error reporting including dark and white clip video, with the remote control options including an active front panel on the frame, a remote control panel or the Statesman PC software. The VDA110M HD and VDA110R HD can be used with six different frame rear modules (the RM01, RM02, RM09, RM10, RM16 and RM18) to give the perfect output combination for every application.

For multi-channel applications where fewer outputs are required, the dual channel VDA210M HD gives a maximum of five outputs per channel (or four outputs with a loop-through), with gain and equalisation adjustable by board edge. Different output combinations are available using four different frame rear modules (the RM01, RM02, RM15 and RM18).

All three analogue video distribution amplifiers give the choice of differential and non-differential inputs, while the loop-throughs are independent of the VDA – meaning it is possible to remove the board without losing the looped-through source.

High quality equalisation will correct any distortion to the analogue signal caused by up to 300m of cable length, making the boards suitable for applications involving long cable runs. Installing the boards is made easy with the inclusion of an SD or HD present indication, while a video monitoring test point BNC at the board edge means a waveform monitor can be plugged straight into the board, facilitating signal monitoring during the setting up of the cable equalisation. The boards all include gain adjustments of +/-3dB.

The VDA110M HD, VDA110R HD and VDA210M HD offer space-saving benefits too. These 100mm x 266mm modules fit in Crystal Vision's standard rack frames alongside any of the interface, keying and picture storage products, allowing 24 boards in 4U (48 channels with the VDA210M HD), 12 in 2U, six in 1U or two in a desk top box.

Explained Crystal Vision's Managing Director, Philip Scofield: “The latest version of our video distribution amplifier is a result of Crystal Vision fully supporting the complete range of analogue video, digital video and High Definition video – all within a common frame.”

Shipping now, these three new distribution amplifiers have replaced the company's original analogue video DAs, the VDA110M, VDA110R and VDA210M.

Based at Whittlesford near Cambridge in the UK, Crystal Vision provides digital keyers, picture storage modules and a full range of digital and analogue interface equipment including converters, decoders, encoders, distribution amplifiers and audio embedders to the professional broadcasting industry worldwide.
