Rondo Media uses M-COCO-2 in OB unit

Added 15th March 2021

Welsh production company Rondo Media has selected Crystal Vision’s new M-COCO-2 IP/SDI colour corrector and legaliser to increase the capability of its Outside Broadcast unit and expand the service Rondo can offer broadcasters. The M-COCO-2’s dual channels make multitasking easy, allowing Rondo to either derive two independently colour corrected feeds from one source or to colour correct and legalise separately, while the M-COCO-2’s multi-format support means that Rondo can use it with SDI now and with IP in the future without changing anything.

Crystal Vision releases flexible profanity delay that works with both IP and SDI

M-CLEANIT IP/SDI profanity delay

Added 30th November 2020

The M-CLEANIT is Crystal Vision's new profanity delay system which is designed to prevent the broadcast of unwanted or offensive video or audio material. Equally suited to IP and SDI environments, the M-CLEANIT's flexibility allows it to be fully customised for any workflow. With intuitive control from a smart button box and separate reaction controls to event and restore, the M-CLEANIT offers the biggest choice of ways to deal with video and audio profanities to keep broadcast content protected – including clean switching to two different video sources or a web page, blurring the video, showing black or blue or colour bars, muting individual audio channels and switching to another audio source. To give the operator time to react, the M-CLEANIT allows an IP or SDI live content stream to be delayed by up to 600 frames, which is 24 seconds in 1080i50, 20 seconds in 1080i59.94, 12 seconds in 720p50/1080p50 and ten seconds in 1080p59.94. The M-CLEANIT is a software app that runs on the MARBLE-V1 media processor hardware, a card which features a powerful CPU/GPU processor and both SDI and 10GbE IP network interface connections and which is housed in the Vision frame.

Crystal Vision releases fail-safe routing switch that works with both IP and SDI

M-SAFESWITCH-2 IP/SDI routing switch

Added 12th October 2020

The M-SAFESWITCH-2 has been designed to keep broadcasters on air, whether they are working in IP or SDI or a mixture of both. With its two independent 2 x 1 switches, the M-SAFESWITCH-2 is Crystal Vision's first dual channel routing switch and helps broadcasters save money by being 37% cheaper per channel than the company's original fail-safe switch. Supporting the SMPTE ST 2022 and ST 2110 IP protocols as well as SDI, it is ideal for planned maintenance switches to manually re-route a good signal around broken equipment, or for use as a very sophisticated auto changeover switch with the option of selecting from ten different fault conditions to automatically trigger the switch. The M-SAFESWITCH-2 is a clean switch and will ensure there is no disruption to the output picture when a switch takes place, using its framestore synchronisers plus the ability to delay the earliest arriving input by up to ten frames to correct any timing differences between the inputs. The M-SAFESWITCH-2 is a software app that runs on the MARBLE-V1 media processor hardware, a card which features a powerful CPU/GPU processor and both SDI and 10GbE IP network interface connections and which is housed in the Vision frame.

Crystal Vision releases linear keyer that works with both IP and SDI

M-KEY IP/SDI linear keyer

Added 8th September 2020

Crystal Vision has released a linear keyer that works with IP (SMPTE ST 2022 and ST 2110 video), with SDI or with both IP and SDI at the same time. The M-KEY can key one externally-generated graphic over a video stream or a matte and is a traditional linear keyer designed for those who use a character generator or graphics PC to provide their key and fill sources. The M-KEY is ideal for a wide range of channel branding and graphic overlay applications, while the mixed IP/SDI I/O means that it can provide a cost-effective solution for those using SDI caption generators to key into an IP feed, with the SDI to IP conversion included in the cost of the keyer. The M-KEY is a software app that runs on the MARBLE-V1 media processor hardware, a card housed in the Vision frame which features a powerful CPU/GPU processor and both SDI and 10GbE IP network interface connections.

Crystal Vision makes creating picture-in-picture effects easier with M-PIP

M-PIP IP/SDI picture-in-picture

Added 7th August 2020

Crystal Vision has released the industry's first dedicated picture-in-picture device. Designed for IP or SDI playout applications that need one or two picture-in-picture boxes to be inset on the main programme, the M-PIP allows two input flows to be sized and positioned in advance and then layered over either the third input flow or an internal matte generator. The M-PIP can be used with IP (SMPTE ST 2022 and ST 2110 video), with SDI or with both IP and SDI at the same time, and is a software app that runs on the MARBLE-V1 media processor hardware, a card housed in the Vision frame which features a powerful CPU/GPU processor and both SDI and 10GbE IP network interface connections. Picture-in-picture functionality has previously only been available as part of some production mixers, channel-in-a-box systems and master control mixers. As a dedicated double box generator, the M-PIP therefore provides a cost-effective solution for those who only require picture-in-picture functionality, while it can also be used to add extra capability to a standard playout or studio system.

Crystal Vision reduces the cost of creating video graphics with M-WEBKEY

M-WEBKEY IP/SDI web page keyer

Added 10th July 2020

Crystal Vision has introduced a unique new way to do broadcast graphics. Rather than using video sources for the key and fill signals like traditional linear keyers, the M-WEBKEY web page keyer can key a web page on to an IP or SDI video stream – using the power of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, AJAX, XML and JSON to add still and animated on-screen text and graphics as well as sophisticated data-driven graphics. The M-WEBKEY is already causing broadcasters to rethink their graphics workflows. Compared to traditional linear keying, this new method of keying is lower cost (no need for an expensive character generator or graphics PC), provides an easier workflow (with less video sources to deal with), simplifies the network (web pages use very little bandwidth compared to uncompressed video), makes efficient use of resources (the broadcaster's website and programmes can share the same graphics) and makes it easier to find suitable operators (with web page design a common skill). The M-WEBKEY is a software app that runs on the MARBLE-V1 media processor hardware, a card housed in the Vision frame which features a powerful CPU/GPU processor and both SDI and 10GbE IP network interface connections.

Added 27th May 2020

Crystal Vision has released its most feature-packed colour corrector and legaliser to date. The M-COCO-2 is Crystal Vision's first dual channel colour corrector, helping broadcasters save money by being 24% cheaper per channel than the company's alternative product. The M-COCO-2's ability to work with IP, with SDI or with both IP and SDI at the same time makes it the industry's first colour corrector to offer IP connectivity (supporting both SMPTE ST 2022 and ST 2110 video), while its extensive features also make it a good solution for hybrid systems as well as fully SDI installations. These features include unique new adjustments including two Y stretches ideal for correcting the contrast on in-shot monitors, as well as support for an increased number of video standards (31 in total) and a built-in test pattern generator for an easier workflow. Like all of Crystal Vision's IP/SDI video processing products, the M-COCO-2 is a software app that runs on the MARBLE-V1 media processor hardware, a card housed in the Vision frame which features a powerful CPU/GPU processor and both SDI and 10GbE IP network interface connections.

Crystal Vision releases four video delays that work with both IP and SDI

M-VIVID IP/SDI video delays

Added 30th March 2020

Crystal Vision continues its commitment to being the leading video delay provider with the release of four variable video delays that can work with IP, with SDI or with both IP and SDI at the same time and provide up to 32 seconds of delay. Designed to match any equipment with a processing delay, Crystal Vision's latest video delays are software apps that run on the MARBLE-V1 media processor hardware and can easily be replaced if needs change. Broadcast engineers can choose a version with the features they need, selecting the required number of channels (single, dual or triple) and the required amount of delay (up to 100, 200, 400 or 800 frames). These are the industry's first video delays to offer IP connectivity (supporting both SMPTE ST 2022 and ST 2110 video over 10GbE IP networks), while for those working with SDI they introduce a 3G/HD/SD-capable video delay to the Vision frame system for the first time – with the easiest possible upgrade path to IP. The inclusion of IP to SDI and SDI to IP gateway functionality also makes them the ideal video delay for hybrid systems.
