The MARBLE-V1 media processor is a purpose built shared hardware platform that allows for apps to be loaded and changed, serving a task today and a different task tomorrow.

You can do many different things with MARBLE-V1, making it a very powerful platform that can be used for a large
range of tasks.

At the heart of MARBLE-V1 is the powerful CPU/GPU processor that runs Linux and a Crystal Vision developed operating system layer. This operating system layer is the connecting fabric to software defined apps that run on the processor.

The CPU/GPU processor makes it easy to configure MARBLE-V1 to perform all kinds of tasks or combinations of tasks. It has no problem with multiple stream processing, image manipulation and processes such as colour correction, keying and picture scaling.

The inputs and outputs

At its core is an anything in/anything out I/O philosophy, with the inputs and outputs determined and customised by the installed app.

What is MARBLE-V1?MARBLE-V1 has six bi-directional SDI connections and four 10GbE SFP+ network interface ports (available in 850nm and 1310nm wavelengths for multi-mode or single-mode).

For future products, there is the option of fitting a DIOP8 audio piggyback to provide discrete audio connectivity with eight bi-directional AES signals.

The multitude of connections allow MARBLE-V1 to be used for so many different tasks and give you the multi-channel products which help save you rack space and money.

The software apps

App cloudThe software apps give MARBLE-V1 its functionality.

MARBLE-V1’s mixed SDI and IP I/O makes it easy to transition between SDI, ST 2022 and ST 2110. The picture processing apps can work with IP (ST 2022 and ST 2110), with SDI or with both IP and SDI at the same time. This gives the easiest possible SDI to IP upgrade, while also making them perfect for mixed SDI and IP installations as well as fully IP and fully SDI environments.

MARBLE-V1 is built with the future in mind. Apps that are bought with the MARBLE-V1 hardware can be replaced with different apps as needs change, helping you make the most of your budget. Your IP gateway today can be a keyer tomorrow.

The Vision frame has a dual reference system that – coupled with MARBLE-V1’s PTP capabilities – provides multiple reference possibilities, depending upon the app that is installed.

Helping your system work

MARBLE-V1’s apps offer an extensive set of features that make it easy to get and keep your system working.

These include comprehensive SDI, IP and PTP monitoring information (plus 13 test patterns to aid fault finding), unicast and multicast transmission support, a choice of traffic shaping options and ten frames of video delay.

Flexible control

All control is done remotely, with a choice of remote control and monitoring options for the apps running on the MARBLE-V1 media processor.

Hardware control options include an integrated control panel on the Vision 3 frame, the VisionPanel remote control panel and the SBB-4 smart button box.

Software control options include SNMP, our ASCII and JSON protocols and the VisionWeb web browser control.

Crystal Vision frameSave rack space

Fitting in the standard Vision frames (currently available in 3U size), MARBLE-V1 is a space-saving 96mm x 325mm card that sits in one frame slot – allowing up to ten media processors in 3U.

The frame rear modules that work with MARBLE-V1 and its software apps are the VR04, VR05, VR06 and VR07.

What outputs do I get?

The functionality of MARBLE-V1 is defined purely by the software app running on it.

Signal inputs and outputs are accessed by using an appropriate rear module for the software app currently installed on the MARBLE-V1 hardware.

The rear modules that work with MARBLE-V1 and its software apps are the VR04, VR05, VR06 and VR07. A generic rear module label (shown below) will be supplied with the purchase of the rear module, with the specific signal connections explained in the app brochures and user manuals.

The Vision rear modules slot on at the back of the frame and typically feature BNC, Micro BNC, D-Type and LC fibre connectors.
